This session showcases opportunities to improve domestic hot water system design and operation through field data and emerging technologies. Presenters will compare conventional hot water sizing methods with measured building performance data and share findings from a field study evaluating smart domestic hot water pumps and a behavioral study assessing smart shower duration indicators that provide real-time user feedback to reduce hot water use. Together, these presentations provide practical insights into reducing energy use, improving system efficiency, and better aligning hot water systems with actual building needs.
